THE LAWN

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY.

PLTC CLUB CHAMPS are ahead. These will be posted this afternoon. Be sure to complete the rounds as swiftly as possible and make the most of this terrific weather.

The SGM is being held Thursday 22 Feb at 7pm at PLTC clubrooms. To amend the constitution in line with CW46 of the Income Tax Act 2007.

We welcome everyone to come to PLTC and play tennis and we just would love to see new members. Now with the weather and club looking glorious it is a great time to encourage anyone who may be thinking of joining. Please note too that all Guests must sign in the visitors book and playing guests need to pay prior to play the $20 fee. The same guest may only play three times before being encouraged to join our amazing club.

Below are some court rules, and etiquette reminders. A good read to update and to help and educate others using our facilities.

The committee held the yearly Stratgetic meeting on Sunday. Feedback from that will be in the next PLTC Minutes for members to view.

Each month we will highlight our Sponsors and encourage our readers to take a look at their offerings and websites. See below for latest…

 SPONSOR SHOWCASE

This month we are showcasing Working Style right here in Parnell.

Working Style is a wonderful sponsor for the club and this was very much on show at the Michael Venus event in december.

They are currently having a sale on, so a perfect time to get your wardrobe spruced up! Or get the the Team at Working Style to sort you out for our Black Tie event in April. Working Style provides Both mens' and women's clothing.

Speaking of being spruced up, we have to note for all Members and visitors alike to adhere to the Dress Code and proper Ettiquette for our club. A gentle reminder to those can be helpful when something is not right.

We have a link here to advise on the regulations for all Members and visitors alike.

DRESS CODE

A wee reminder of the PLTC DRESS CODE - this applies to members as well as all guests visiting the club.

-All Tennis wear with “Commercial Identification” is not encouraged at PLTC, keep logos small.
-All players and visitors shall dress and present themselves in an appropriate manner for tennis. Clean and customarily tennis attire shall be worn including during the warm-up.

-Unacceptable attire – Unacceptable attire includes gym, beach or rugby shorts, sweatshirts, skivvies or t-shirts, revealing attire, and any other attire deemed inappropriate by PLTC. Bare Chests are never allowed at PLTC.

Players’ footwear must have a sole designed for tennis

-Warm-up clothing – Warm-up clothing (including tracksuits) may be worn during warm-up but not during a match unless PLTC gives permission. Removal of warm-up clothing is to take place during the prescribed warm-up time to the match. Warm-up clothing must comply with all PLTC attire rules.

ETIQUETTE

We really have to be very mindful of members and visitors to understand the etiquette when at our tennis club. A good read for all new members and also many juniors and private lesson guests who may be unfamiliar.

We are “trialing” the LOCK on court 4. To explain further, this is to help with Club safety and non members gaining access. It will also minimise court interference for that court. We will use the main gate for entry in the mean time.

The following points of etiquette should be adhered to, in order to make playing the game of tennis a more enjoyable experience for everyone at PLTC.

DO NOT CROSS OTHER COURTS DURING PLAY  Be mindful of entering or crossing the courts during play, and especially to retrieve balls. If there is a game in progress, please wait until the point has been completed and the ball is out of play before entering or crossing the courts.

SHUT THE GATES behind you

NO MOBILE PHONE noise while on court. Ensure mobile phones are turned off or on ‘silent mode’ during play

LANGUAGE- keep your “beep” words to yourself.

PICK UP AFTER YOURSELF!

CANS! RUBBISH! LIDS! TISSUES! WATER BOTTLES!  Dispose of rubbish in the Club House bins on leaving or even better still, take it home with you.

Now this is a tricky one with all the tremendous weather we have been having the courts have been busy, so a reminder to understand …

…COURT USAGE WHEN BUSY….

If ALL the PLTC courts are Full….firstly be patient, then approach with Etiquette to work a solution ...basic PLTC rules apply here. Although allow the game (not set) to finish, rather than interrupting.

1: A doubles game takes precedence over a waiting or playing singles game.

2: If ALL 4 the players are present at PLTC, this takes precedence to use the court first. ALL 4 players need to be on court to use the court. If a ‘three” or less is waiting for last players they have to give up court to the “four” who are already and waiting. ( “on their way” or “delayed” or “in traffic” or “only 5 mins away” “I’ve got rights” etc will not count as “a waiting 4”.)

Also note that an hour or so of play would be preferred if really busy and there are players waiting.
