The Parnell Gold Tournament - A new era begins!

The all new PLTC Gold tournament was held over the weekend of 18-20 October.  The weekend celebrations started on Friday night with a masquerade party at the club, which continued well into the night with music and dancing from DJ Ridler.

The tournament itself was held in glorious weather on Sunday, with a full complement of 32 men and 32 women competing.  After a full day of very enjoyable tennis, the women's tournament was won by Margaret Olsen and Pavlina Nola, while Andrew Clark and Macsem Sisam triumphed in the men's tournament.

The major prizes included a trip for two to the Australian Open including air fares and accommodation, won by Hamish Thomson, and very generous men's and women's clothing vouchers from principal sponsor Working Style, won by Ben Mountfort and Rachel Brand respectively.

One of the main aims of the tournament (besides having a huge amount of fun) was to raise some money for the resurfacing of courts 7&8, and early indications are that we have raised slightly over $5,000 for this important court upgrade.  It is hoped to have at least court 7 (and hopefully court 8 as well) resurfaced during the summer interclub break over December and January.
